Spontaneous Social Bonding
Time flies and Thanksgiving is around the corner. I am very thankful to the family and friends who always support me. This blog is not about my work. I just want to share a piece of my life story which fascinates me.
I am a fan of BMW and used to lease a M340i xDrive. I liked the sleek design, the revving engine and the driving experience. I often wore the M Logo cap. One day, I was walking in a Japanese garden in Seattle and came across a guy who also wore the M Logo cap. We talked a lot about our cars and shared the funny moments. After that, I realized that the M Logo cap was a great conversation starter and I enjoyed the casual talks with the BMW fans.
I am also a big golf fan. Last summer, I played the golf with my family in Kapalua, Hawaii and it was fantastic. After that, I started to wear the Kapalua Logo cap. Surprisingly, I met a couple of teachers and parents in my kid’s school who also played golf in Kapalua. We had a great time to share our “awkward” golf experience.
Of course, as a proud member working in Microsoft Azure, I often wear all kinds of hoodies with Azure, Cloud Native and ACR logos. That brought a lot of conversations when I was in traveling or shopping. It gave me the chance to know many colleagues who I didn’t have the chance in the last few years due to the pandemic.
The world is small. I am always amazed by the spontaneous social bonding experience. Be kind and be open. You will be surprised by how many friends you can make in your life journey.
Happy Thanksgiving!
